(…)Otto Kukla, who is responsible for direction, stage and video, has allowed a stream of music to flow between young and old, between the reality below and that above. It drives, throbs like a pulse, almost hectic, then gentle again: a fascinating Michael Nyman-style sound tapestry as the undertone of three biographies, into which one or two motifs are woven again and again – echoes just like in real life. Harald Bluechel alias Cosmic Baby, who discovered electronic sounds on his way to becoming a concert pianist, has composed the “Memory” score for the Zurich string quartet Amar. The four award-winning young musicians sit between screens and actors, a cello stroke comments on the memory of “Grossmammachen” and her terrier, the quartet’s rasping sounds illustrate the hail of bombs that turned the escape to the bunker that saved them into a nightmare (…)
